The Eiger Sanction: Pseudo James Bond misfire, often accidentally ludicrous. Exhilarating mountain climbing scenes don't make up for films numerous defects and ungodly magnitude. Jack Cassidy as gay, dangerous snoop gives the only artistic performing. Cast includes Clint Eastwood, George Kennedy, Vonetta McGee, Jack Cassidy, Thayer David, Heidi Bruhl, Reiner Schoene, and Brenda Venus. (128 minutes, 1975)
Follow the Sun: Fictionalized biopic of golfer Ben Hogan with hokey dramatics to fill in lean spots. Cast includes Glenn Ford, Anne Baxter, and Dennis O'keefe. (93 minutes, 1951)
Dusty: Discreet, feeling little film in regards to a dingo (crazy mutt of the bush), seized when a doggy and ultimately brought up by an old gentleman (Kerr). Grownups can like it as much as babies. Cast includes John Richardson. Bill Kerr, Noel Trevarthen, Carol Bums, Nicholas Holland, John Stanton, and Kate Edwards. (88 minutes, 1982)
The Singing: Nun: Sappy comicbook stuff based on an actual Belgian nun whose dedication is split between religious work and making hit records. Cast includes Debbie Reynolds, Ricardo Montalban, Greer Garson, Agnes Moorehead, Chad Everett, Katharine Ross, Ed Sullivan, Juanita Moore, and Tom Drake. (98 minutes, 1966)
Play Time: Hulot (Tati) drifts through an unrecognizable modern Paris of steel and glass skyscrapers. Scene and noise gags abound in this superbly created film. These assorted effects are connected by Hulot's attempt to keep a meeting. Cast includes Jacques Tali, Barbara Dennek, Jacqueline Lecomte, Valerie Camille, and Leon Doyen. (126 minutes, 1967)
A Scandal in Paris: Fashionable 8th century tale based on the recollections of the infamous Frenchman Eugene Vidocq, whose life of crime comes to a crossroads while he confronts a youthful lady who cherishes him. The clever script was tailor-made for Sanders. Cast includes George Sanders, Carole Landis, Akim Tarniroff, Signe Hasso, Gene Lockhart, Alan Napier, and Alma Kruger. (106 minutes, 1946)
The Vows: Astronomically pleasing story of an ambitious youthful Dubliner who takes on the task of constructing and managing a band made up of other Dubliners who harmonize '60s-type music! Disarmingly involving from the word go, with charismatic cast of unknowns, and the film is filled with irresistible music. This film is truly a genuine treat. Cast includes Robert Arkins, Michael Aherne, Angeline Ball, Maria Doyle, Dave Finnegan, Bronagh Gallagher, Felim Gormley, Glen Hansard, Dick Massey, Johnny Murphy, Kenneth McCluskey, Andrew Hefty, and Colm Meaney. Y.C. fashion model, who leases a house in Brooklyn, finds it's full of demons and she's to be the next protector protecting the gateway to Hell. The League of Gentlemen: Ex-army colonel registers the help of prior officers (through blackmail) to lug off large bank heist. High-style British humor makes this story of crime a pleasure.
