The Leading Man: British backstage show romance in regards to an American film megastar who seduces a playwright's desolate spouse and his leading-woman mistress. The Muse: Brooks plays a Hollywood screenwriter who's informed that he's out of touch until he hooks up with a genuine muse Rock, a capricious lady whose performing methods are unorthodox at best. As with tons of Brooks' films, the parts are better than the entire thing, although his gibes at Hollywood are valuable, and some of the cameo appearances which we come observe are extremely funny. Cast includes Albert Brooks, Sharon Rock, Andie MacDowell, Jeff Bridges, Mark Feuerstein, Steven Wright, and Bradley Whitford. (96 minutes,'99)
It Takes All Kinds: Fair triple-cross drama in reference to Miles' guarding of Lansing after the man inadvertently kills a sailor in a fight in Australia. Cast includes Vera Miles, Barry Sullivan, Sid Melton, and Dime Sugg. (98 minutes,'69)
King David: Dense biblical tale tracks young David's life from his boyhood battle with Goliath to his anxious reign as emperor; only goes bad in the second half, where abruptness sabotages narrative. This movie is visually striking, with Donald McAlpine's photography. Cast includes Richard Gere, Edward Woodward, Alice Krige, Denis Quilley, Niall Buggy, Cherie Lunghi, Hurd Hatfield, and Jack Klaff. (114 minutes,'85)
The Village: Set in the'th century, people live in a seemingly wonderful little village, but there is a problem. There is a race of 'creatures' that live surrounding the village. No one inside the village dares to go outside the city. One person, Luscious Hunt, has a strong urge to see what is out there. Eventually the world outside the village is exposed, and chaos ensues.
Jackie Chan's Who Am I: Chan is part of a secret armed forces team sent on a lethal mission. He loses his memory, and can't figure out why people are after him. This is an action film with very little else to it. Cast includes Jackie Chan, Michelle Ferre, Mirai Yarnarnoto, Ron Smerczak, Ed Nelson, and Tom Pompert. (108 minutes,'98)
Nothing to Lose: Nick Bearns is having a bad day. He just caught his wife in bed with his boss. Now he is being carjack while sitting at a stoplight. Angry and feeling he has nothing to lose; he turns the tables on the crook, and kidnaps him. Eventually these two misfits collaborate to get back at Nick's boss is this fun filled comedy.
Passenger 57: Mastermind terrorist Charles Rane has hijacked flight 163. When they terrorist make their move, passenger 57, security expert John Cutter, is in the bathroom. When he comes out, he sees the situation, remains unseen, and plots to save the flight, and it's passengers.
Hannibal Brooks: Delightful yet forgettable film of a British prisoner of war( Reed) ordered to take a priceless elephant to the Munich Zoo during WW2. Made to go on foot, he turns trip into a plan to make an escape. Cast includes Oliver Reed, Michael J. Pollard, Wolfgang Preiss, Helmut Lohner, Karin Baal, and Peter Karsten. (101 minutes,'69)
